Find the right fit for your garden

Which Fence Panel Style Suits Your Garden?

Start with the view you want to screen or keep open. Then compare the board pattern, height and post system before choosing your panels.

Closeboard fence panels

Overlapping vertical featheredge boards create a solid face. Our closeboard panels are 6ft wide, with seven heights from 3ft to 6ft and top capping included. Use the closeboard category for the full construction and fitting details.

Example: a private seating area
A solid panel can screen a patio from neighbouring gardens. Choose the finished height for the view you want to screen.

Easy fixing to wooden posts

Framed closeboard panels

Our framed closeboard panels are designed to make screwing panels to wooden fence posts easier. The full timber perimeter frame provides solid fixing points for the screws, while overlapping vertical featheredge boards create a solid privacy screen.

Heavy-duty 75 × 32mm rails. We use the same support rails as our standard closeboard panels, giving a larger timber section than 50 × 32mm rails.

Example: a new fence on wooden posts
Check the panel dimensions against your post spacing, then choose suitable exterior screws for fixing the frame to the posts.

For a traditional horizontal pattern

Lap fence panels

Our dip-treated brown lap panels are our most cost-effective privacy fencing option. Their overlapping horizontal boards create a solid screen with a traditional garden fence appearance. Choose from seven heights between 3ft and 6ft, and compare the board pattern with your existing fence when replacing individual bays.

Example: replacing an existing lap panel
Match the horizontal board pattern, then measure the opening and check the new panel’s fixing method.

For an open boundary

Picket fence panels

Spaced vertical pales let light and views through. Choose pointed or round tops, with 2ft, 3ft and 4ft heights available. Picket suits front gardens and boundaries where you want an open appearance.

Example: a front lawn beside a path
Spaced pales define the boundary while keeping planting visible. Choose a solid panel if you want privacy.

Three checks before you order

01 / SIZE

Measure the finished height

Panel height excludes the gravel board. A 5ft 6in panel above a 6in gravel board gives approximately 6ft overall.

02 / FIT

Match the posts and panels

Measure existing openings and check the fixing method. Panel width is not post-centre spacing. On slopes, rigid panels are normally stepped in level bays.

Looking for a continuous fence that follows the slope? Try our closeboard fencing materials.

03 / QUANTITY

Plan the whole run

A straight freestanding run normally needs one more post than panels. Allow for corners, ends and gates.
