Our Closeboard Fence Panels and Framed Closeboard Fence Panels are built with vertical overlapping boards fixed to horizontal rails, creating a strong, heavy-duty fence ideal for privacy and durability. Lap panels, also known as waney lap, feature horizontal slats that overlap and are secured with five vertical battens on each side. While lap panels are more budget-friendly, closeboard panels offer greater strength, a longer lifespan, and better resistance to wind and wear..
Yes, you can reuse existing fence posts as long as they’re structurally sound and properly aligned. This is especially straightforward with slotted concrete posts, which are designed to hold standard-sized panels securely in place. If the posts are timber, check for signs of rot or movement before fitting new panels. Reusing good posts can save time and money, but always ensure they’re stable enough to support the new fencing long term.
Yes, all our Garden Fence Panels are Treated for protection against rot and fungal decay.Lap panels are dip-treated, offering reliable surface protection and excellent value. In our experience, this method is better suited to lap panels, which are made from thinner, overlapping slats. We’ve found that deep-pressure treatment can sometimes lead to excess moisture in the timber, which increases the risk of warping as it dries—especially in lap construction – nobody likes gaps opening up in their panels.Closeboard panels are pressure-treated, providing deeper preservative penetration and a longer maintenance interval. They’re ideal for customers looking for added durability and a more traditional, heavy-duty panel. The timber used in closeboard panels is generally thicker and more stable, meaning it’s far less prone to warping during the drying process after treatment—making pressure treatment a natural fit for this style.
